Laser Tattoo Removal
How Does Laser Tattoo Removal work?
The laser emits a pulse of light that is absorbed into the ink particles. The light enters the skin at a speed that is too fast to heat the skin , instead, it produces a ‘shock wave’ effect and breaks up the ink particles into smaller pieces, the body then removes them naturally via the body’s own natural elimination system.
Can you treat all colours?
The majority of colours are treatable, however pale colours such a white and yellow are more difficult. This is not usually a problem however, as lighter colours cover very easily. If you wish to cover- up an existing tattoo then the darker colours will be faded or removed, allowing you greater choice of size and colour of the cover-up design you choose.
How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict how many treatments will be needed. This depends on several factors: age of tattoo, density, type of ink and colour. Amateur tattoos can be quick to remove (from as little as 4 treatments) while professional ones can take longer. Treatments will be typically scheduled 4-6wks apart.
How will my skin look afterwards?
An instant whitening of the skin is seen after treatment, this fades quickly. The area is likely to feel tender, red and swollen for up to 48hrs. We will provide written aftercare advise after treatment. Very rarely a small blister may form and the skin may temporarily become lighter/darker.
Is it painful?
Each person’s pain threshold varies, lasers will cause some discomfort but most clients describe the sensation as being flicked by an elastic band or hot pin pricks.
What should i do before my treatments?
Do not expose skin to UV or self tan for at least 2wks before and after treatments. Avoid microdermabrasion/exfoliating peels for 1wk prior.
Laser Hair Reduction
Hair reduction- how does it work?
During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to an individual hair follicle. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth. Although laser hair removal effectively slows hair growth, it doesn’t guarantee permanent hair removal. It typically takes multiple laser hair removal treatments to provide an extended hair-free period. Periodic maintenance treatments might be needed as well.
How is laser different to IPL?
In basic terms, IPL is far less effective than Laser Hair Removal. The energy is less powerful therefore does not penetrate the skin deep enough to reach the hair root. It is usually limited to use on fairer skin types whereas Laser is safe on ALL skin colours.
Will laser help with ingrown hairs?
Laser hair removal is especially useful for treating ingrown hairs, especially for people with dark coily hair. The laser is most effective for dark hairs because the melanin contained in the hair structure is the pathway that the energy from the laser travels. The darker a colour is, the more light it absorbs. Therefore, lasers hair removal work better on hair that has darker pigments than hair with lighter colours.
What else can laser treat?
